INT.
PAWN SHOP, DAY
JAMIE,
a rich well-dressed young male, aged 34, takes a casual trip to his local pawn
shop. JAMIE is on a mission to collect abnormal antiques to add to his
collection. Whilst browsing around the premises JAMIE collides with an
estranged scraggy rough living homeless guy.
JAMIE
Sorry
mate, are you alright?
ALBERT doesn't respond and swiftly disappears out of the shop, not realising he has
dropped his dog tags, in which he was originally going to trade. Jamie realises
that Albert has left behind his dog tags and picks them up, expecting to return
them but to his surprise Albert has already left the shop and is out of sight.
Whilst scanning the tags for any significant detail Jamie comes across an
engraving reading
‘With all my love,Dad.’ (16/11/1985)
A
moment of pause is taken by Jamie, as a tear draws from his eye. He reaches for
his neck and tugs at his dog tags. A thought bubbles appears reading…
2+2=……
Rich
Guy + Poor Guy=…..
Tag+
Tag = BROTHERS??!!!!
Putting
the two together Jamie recognises that this was the other half of his set of
dog tags, and as they were given to him and his brother when their father
passed away, he realises that the homeless guy, Albert, was his brother.
Astounded by his findings Jamie rushes out the shop to find Albert.
EXT.
ROAD, NIGHT
As
time fly by
evening occurs and there is still no sighting of Albert. Jamie finds himself
parked on a street bench collecting his thoughts and setting himself the task
of finding Albert as soon as possible, yet still going about his day to day
life. As this takes places another thought bubble is shown reading..
Hmmm…..
The
screen fades out via the use of special effects.
A
montage sequence is then shown, portraying JAMIE’S journey to find Albert. The
montage consists of the park, the market area and an ordinary road.
EXT.
PARK, DAY
The
park is the primary stage of the montage. JAMIE is strolling through the park
on his way to work, continuously on the lookout for the sighting of his long
lost brother. Convinced he is not around JAMIE exists the park, whilst a
glimpse of ALBERT is shown in the same location sitting on a bench dazing at
the sky moments after.
ANIMATION
IS USED TO SHOW THE JOURNEY FROM THE PARK TO THE MARKET.
EXT.
BARKING MARKET, DAY
Barking
market is the second stage of the montage. Running for the bus JAMIE is found looming through the market. As he is running ALBERT is briefly shown sitting outside
of a shop, covered in dirt holding a worn out blanket. With his mind focused on
catching the bus JAMIE is unaware that he ran past ALBERT, missing the chance
to reunite with his brother.
THE
USE OF SPECIAL EFFECTS SUCH AS FADES AND THE TITLING OF 24HRS LATER CREATE THE
CUT FROM THE MARKET TO THE ROAD.
EXT.
ROAD, AFTERNOON
The
final phase of the montage shows Jamie walking home. He returns to the bench in
which he is initially found sitting on in one of the prior scenes. Albert takes
a seat again to recalculate his thoughts, thinking to give up on his quest for
ALBERT, when JAMIE gets an unexpected viewing of Albert .is found rummaging
through a bin in the mists. As JAMIE swiftly leaves the bench ALBERT is about to
cross the road.
JAMIE
Excuse
me? Homeless Guy!
ALBERT!
Jamie
shouts but fails to be heard. Jamie draws nearer to Albert and as he is about
to cross he outreaches his arm tapping Albert on the shoulder. Albert stops and
turns to face Jamie, unaware of an oncoming car and his positioning in the
road.
CAR
NOISES ARE HEARD IN THE BACKGROUND
As
the car swiftly approaches Jamie is forced to throw himself at Albert, causing
the two of them to land heavily on the curb, nonetheless saving Albert’s life.
During their landing the dog tags fall out alighting side by side, finally
revealing to Albert, what he considered to be a local rich guy, is actually his
brother.
