British films research - Desmonds
Desmond's is a British sitcom based in peckham which is is in south London. Most of the characters in the film are Caribbean with the accent aswell. This comedy can be seen as British because of the location it is set in. Also through accents and dialect, event though the character have Caribbean accents you can still tell their dialect can be seen as received pronunciation. While the show was not the first black (or predominantly black) British television situation comedy it was the first to be set mainly in the workplace, which provided an insight on black family life different from those seen before on British television. The characters had aspirations (Desmond to return to Guyana, Michael to run his own branch of the bank, Gloria to get a job in fashion, Sean to get to university) and were socially mobile. The vast majority of the crew were also black. I think in a way it does represent British values, for instance it represent the area Peckham as a place where there are a lot afro African/Caribbean town. It also represent the British value in a sense that there are more foreigners and multicultural people that live in Britain meaning a broader range of ethnicity and race. The jobs in this sitcom are very different we have characters that are in the fashion industry, another who is a bank owner and one who is studying in uni. These jobs typify the values of a british society and expectations.

British film research - Bullet boy
Bullet boy
The locations used in bullet boy are flats and houses of the characters and also outside where most of the action/plot discovers. Londoners in this film are portrayed as criminals and thugs. the film is very stereotypical about how young black teenagers are portrayed nowadays. The Londoners are also portrayed as violent due to illegal weapons such as knives and guns which are shown violently towards victims and even their own friends. In bullet boy the attire worn are mainly tracksuits with hoodies. The reason why is because again the stereotype in the real world of teenagers wear hoodies and tracksuit bottoms. this maybe because they can cause mischief in these clothes. The music played in this are mostly grime/ rnb genre of music which relate to the type of music the character listen to. The film is made in and set in Britain. You can tell by how the estates are shown and also through simple dialogue from the characters talking about locations. I do not think the main audience is British because these types of themes apply everywhere especially in countries like America, Poland and South Americans

The locations used in this film are mostly in the house of parliament and in peoples houses considering on the occasion. for example celebrations and get-togethers. Londoners in this film are portrayed as jolly, quite funny and loving. these are shown through relationships through characters. The londoners are also portayed as patronic to their country by valuing the Queen. The clothes the characters wear are very old fashioned and suave. This can be also because the characters are much older meaning their sense of dressing might be old fashioned and grey. This film is made in britain. This is shown through historical landmarks such as the big ben and tower bridge. i would say the main audience for this film is for the british audience. this is because british audiences can relate to the the themes such as the british jokes and british traditions such as Christmas.
